The cedar strips we supply are cut from the same "Select Grade" Western Red Cedar lumber we use for our own canoes.
Carefully selected for the vertical grain characteristics desired in strip canoe construction, the lumber is planed to uniform thickness. After slicing into 1/4" thick strips, the pieces are then shaped on one edge with a "Bead" (convex) cut. The remaining edge is shaped with a "Cove" (concave) cut, resulting in the best edge treatment available for strip canoe construction.
The varying hues of the strips will surely make your canoe a handsome craft indeed!
