Royalex (rx)
Royalex has been the material of choice for Mad River Canoes since 1974. Chosen for its incredible durability in the most abusive conditions, the impacts and scrapes that would harm the finish of other canoes are absorbed by a Royalex boat.
Royalex is a sandwich lay-up composed of three component layers which are built into various thickness and locations as specified by each Royalex Canoe Manufacturer.
Vinyl Skin: A rugged crossed link vinyl skin that forms the interior and exterior surfaces of the hull and is specifically formulated for abrasion resistance and protection against ultraviolet light.
ABS Substrate Layers: Underneath the skin that provides the canoe's hard armor and strength.
Uncellular Foam Core: Gives the canoe its floatation and maintains its rigidity.
